Co-sleeper or crib-sleeper?

Isn’t this nursery a piece of art? I would love to have this colour even for the master bedroom.

During my early pregnancy, I never have a thought about where would my baby sleep, I’m too busy thinking about what should she wear, how to breastfeed her, what type of diaper she should wear (now its cloth diaper, although not 100 % yet), where to give birth and everything that’s necessary.

But we do buy a crib for her after one of my friend told me that it’s easy to handle baby when they use to be in a crib (this never have been prove 100 %).

So for me, I think I’ll go for crib-sleeper, because najihah sleeps in her crib since she was a newborn. During my confinement, the crib had made part of my routine easy. I can do other chores without being afraid that najihah will fell of the bed and I can use the crib as my changing table too! (this only works when the mattress level is the highest). During her tantrums period, I would place her in her crib so that she would not injured herself (when Najihah cry, she doesn’t care where she should fling her body).

Even when najihah sleeps in her crib, the crib would be put just at my arms reach so closeness and bonding are not an issue .Once in a while najihah do co-sleep with us on the bed.
So mommy, would you share with me your sleep time with your precious?

Flooding our landfill with DD?

Today while blog hopping I’ve found another interesting story about the beauty of using Cloth Diaper, this story was based on one mom’s experienced while working on a Solid Waste Management project at Jinjang landfill back in year 2000.

They’ve found out that baby’s disposable diapers and women’s disposable pad are one of the top wastes found in landfills, besides foods wastes. This mountain of disposable thingy can lead to ground water contamination, bad odour and it takes around 500 years to decompose. But the most unpleasant thing to know is that the landfill worker (mostly men) will separate all the wastes everyday and the scenery of all the dispos is normal for them ! (okay..i’m focusing on the pads now)

After I read the entry I was thinking, what kind of environment we would inherit to our children in the future? Wahh… really hard to imagine! I hope technology could help us fix this problem.

While our scientist work on that, I try to lessen up my mess by wear up my najihah with cloth diaper, I can’t wait for the new CD’s I’ve bought for najihah Buy 5 free 1 (Aidiladha sale), thought of putting the link, but the sale has ended.

I’m also surfing for online cloth pads, like the one Pn Lynn ‘Do It Herself’... a hardworking mommy. Even when I use the disposable pad, I still wash it up first before I trash it (ini kes takut hantu kat asrama dulu), so why don't I just use the reusable one?

So,What can you all do?

Fun games at the beach

Almost every weekend, this is where we will be,

Najihah seems to adore beach so much,every time we bring her to the beach, she would show the “yeah-I’m-excited-and-thrilled” leg kicking act

Since living in kemaman doesn’t give us much choice of entertainment, we choose to pack our things and spent the evening at the Monica Bay (Teluk Mak Nik), while eating keropok lekor and sata

a terengganu gurl... really love sata

Here are a few examples of fun games you could play with your child at the beach;

1-Bring along toy shovel and toy bucket and parents could show their child on how to scoop the sand

2-Let our child touch the sands, feel the texture, making balls of sands and laugh about it, but make sure it didn’t get into their eyes.

3-Parents could hold their child to play with the waves that reach the beach, make them wait for it and get excited whenever it arrives… I know they’ll like it because najihah do.

4-Try to catch little crabs or a moving sea shells, if possible together with your child and after that show them the catch while explaining about it.

After such a fun day and finally you were packing to leave and when you want to change the baby diaper try to rub baby powder or cornstarch onto their skin and the sand will magically comes off and as and ended bonus you’ll end up feeling fresh too.

amniotic fluid leakage

I meant to search for info about why do I have to go on labor as early as 37 weeks, but I totally forgot since I’ve been busy with life (yeah..lame excuse…)

I was induced because doctor had found out that my amniotic fluid was leaking after I complaint that my baby hasn’t kicking for 24 hours.

I was detained at the ward on Monday afternoon, checked by specialist doctor on Tuesday morning, induced by Wednesday, waiting for labor all night long in contraction pain and by Thursday 7.38 AM, my najihah was born.

Even though I didn’t get the chance to have a normal labor experience like what I’ve imagine-pecah air ketuban-screaming for hubby-getting to the car and rush to the hospital-it’s still ok caused I felt blessed when I heard najihah crying out loud the moment she was born.

I wonder why such a strong amniotic sac could rupture, thus leaks the amniotic fluids, from what I’ve found there are times, when the amniotic sac may develop a tear or may rupture causing the amniotic fluid to leak before term. When this occurs 37 – 38 weeks before term, it is referred to as ‘Premature Rupture of Membrane’ or PROM.

When either of these cases occurs, the fluid may just gush out or may just leak out in a continuous trickle like a discharge. This is when I realize that I do have continuous trickle of colorless discharge, but I thought… tak kan lah air ketuban pecah, sikit sangat..

When the premature rupture of amniotic sac occurs, it is necessary to determine the cause of the leaking amniotic fluid. Normally, the leaking is caused by a bacterial infection or by a defect in the structure of the amniotic sac or the uterus or the cervix. The mother-to-be is advised not to douche or have intercourse when the water breaks.This leakage may lead to further complications for the growth of the fetus, as it may hamper the growth of the fetus and may cause bacterial infection to spread from the vagina to the uterus and consequently to the fetus.Sometimes when there is a small tear in the amniotic sac, it may heal itself over a period of time and the leaking may simply stop of its own accord.

However, if the leaking amniotic fluid is a result of a severe rupture of the membranes of the amniotic sac, then labor may begin within 48 hours. When this happens, the mother-to-be must receive treatment in order to avoid causing an infection to the fetus.Often what is thought of as leaking amniotic fluid can just turn out to be the urine. Therefore, in such cases, the mother-to-be must ascertain if the fluid is urine or not. It is advised to wear a sanitary napkin and observe the color of the liquid. The amniotic fluid is colorless. The mother-to-be must never use a tampon during pregnancy.If the leaking amniotic fluid is brownish-yellow, green, or any other color, the mother-to-be is advised show it to her physician and go to the hospital right away.

The mother-to-be is also advised to note down the color of the fluid and the time when the leaking began and tell her doctor about these details. In such cases, most physicians will usually deliver the baby within 24 hours in order to avoid infection risk.Nowadays, many over the counter products are available to test whether the fluid is urine or amniotic fluid. It is always recommended that one avail of these tests to ensure the health of the baby.

Since this was my first pregnancy, there’s still so much to learn, reminder to myself, do EXTRA observation if whenever najihah will have a brother… (^o^)

DIY Cloth Diaper?

Nowadays, cloth diaper or ‘CD’ is getting more and more popular among mothers. I myself am still trying to fully cloth diapering najihah, for the sake of her health and our pocket health (^o^)

Right now I’ve only got 5 CDs and waiting for a budget to add up another 5 … tak mau main kutu, tak sabar nak tunggu turn

Obviously there are so many mom blogger out there reviewing on the benefits of using CD over DD (disposable diapers), so this is from my point of view;

1-CD helps us save around RM40/month… RM40x12 month= rm480 (Target > rm80/month)
2-CD helps us reduce our trash… hence helps the earth… (^o^)
3- Washing CD gives me and najihah a fun time together... mandi manda sambil basuh CD sama-sama, najihah really is a good ‘helper’

But referring to my post tittle, this is a little different,

Last night I’ve found this very interesting DIY site. Mommies out there with sewing skills, have you ever wondered that we can sew our baby own pocket CD? It’s possible.

This is just to share; the sewed one might not be as good as the industrial manufactured one, but still we could make it as extra especially during rainy seasons kan..

But to mothers with very minimum budget who still wants to cloth diapering their child, this might be it! this is one of the example whereby i think this DIY CD is very cute and most importantly could cater our own personel preferences.. in terms of size,patern and colour.

as for me... hehehe.. (tuan kedai.. i nak beli 5 of your CD key..i tak ada mesin jahit la...)

najihah and her favorite copy

Najihah really love this book, she’s never tired of listening to me reading her this book over and over again.

She sleep with this book, she ‘eats’ this book and travel with it.

So I conclude there are four most important things to fulfill when buying books for najihah;

1- The book must be a board books… note that the book has lost a few limbs
2- The story must be short and simple but full with sound effect… referring to the story teller
3- The book must have a real picture …easy for her to recognize the real miow whenever she sees one
4- The book must have CAT images... yeah...cat is her favorite pet

Rajin adik Rajin..la..la..la..

I’m sure many babies out there are exposed to books on their early age, Lately najihah has become addicted to books too... flipping through books, watch the pictures and pointing at things she likes to be exact.
It's officially one of my major ways to calm her down. She got this one favorite book entitled ‘KITTEN’ I will post about it later on, it’s the only book she would bear to sit and listen thoroughly, other books… not a chance...just like to flip and watch the pictures. Now our car are loaded with board books just to be safe.
